Straight answers to what people ask before they print a QR code. bqrc is part of bstack, made and run by one person: me, Matias Barragan. The legal versions are the Privacy Policy and the Terms.
Will my code stop working?
No. bqrc makes static codes: your link, text, Wi-Fi details or contact card are written into the pattern itself. Scanning one never goes through bqrc, so there is nothing for me to switch off or charge for later. The code works for as long as the thing it points to does, even if bqrc disappears.
That also means a printed code can't be changed. If your link changes, make a new code and print it again.
What is uploaded, and where it is kept
Without an account, nothing. The code is drawn in your browser from what you type, and the PNG or SVG is made there too. What you type is never sent to me. The codes you download are listed under My codes and kept in this browser only. There are no analytics and no tracking cookies, and the typeface comes from bqrc.cc itself, so loading bqrc asks no other company for anything.
With a bstack account you can turn on "Save my codes". It is off until you turn it on, and the page says "Saving to your account" while it is on. Each code you download or copy is then kept in bqrc's database (Neon, in Singapore): what you typed, the colors and settings, the name you gave it and the date. Not the image; it is drawn again when you open it. For a Wi-Fi code you can choose to leave the password out. Turning saving off stops new saves and keeps what is already there.
Deleting and taking it with you
Under My codes, Delete removes one code and Delete all removes every saved code and style. These are real deletes, not a hidden flag. Database backups that may still hold them expire within 7 days. Export all downloads everything as one file, including the exact text inside each code.
How bqrc makes money
It doesn't. Making codes is free and stays free: no watermark, no limit, no trial that ends. Later I plan an optional paid bstack Pro for things that cost money to run, like storage. Nothing you can do today will move behind it. There are no ads, and I never sell what you type.
No AI
bqrc has no AI in it. It encodes exactly what you type.
Is it open source?
Not today. If that changes, this page will say so. The codes themselves follow the open QR standard, so any camera or scanner reads them. Questions go to mati@barragan.com.py.
